Marine Protected Areas in São Tomé and Príncipe
Sharing of scientific data to support the development of maps characterizing the marine seafloor and ecological sensitive areas.
Programa Tatô, together with Fundação Príncipe, Oikos – Cooperação e Desenvolvimento, MARAPA and Fauna & Flora International, under the project “Establishment of a network of marine protected areas (MPAs) in São Tomé and Príncipe, through a co-management approach”, funded by Blue Action Fund, has been contributing to this project through the sharing of scientific data to map marine habitats in the south of the island of São Tomé. We also have been participating in sustainable fisheries co-management assemblies, which promote spaces for discussion, negotiation and decisions making on this issue.
