No passado dia 3 de Dezembro, ocorreu a cerimónia virtual de entrega de prémios Tusk Conservation Awards 2020, um evento que todos os anos reconhece o esforço e dedicação de líderes de conservação em África.
O Programa Tatô, através do Sr. Hipólito Lima, o nosso pai das tartarugas marinhas em São Tomé e Príncipe, foi um dos nomeados e finalistas para receber o prémio e acabou por ser o grande vencedor, recebendo o prémio Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa.
Este prémio não só reconhece internacionalmente o Sr. Hipólito como embaixador dos esforços de conservação do Programa Tatô na ilha de São Tomé, mas também o trabalho e dedicação de toda a equipa do Programa Tatô, que tem contribuido nos últimos anos para um melhor estado de conservação destas espécies ameaçadas de extinção.
Quisemos marcar este momento tão especial para o Sr. Hipólito e para a nossa Associação com uma pequeno evento que contou com a presença de todos os membros da coordenação do Programa Tatô e da ONG MARAPA, onde apresentámos o vídeo de apresentação do Sr. Hipólito e o momento em que foi anunciado vencedor pelo Príncipe William.

The virtual award ceremony of Tusk Conservation Awards of 2020 has occurred on the last December 3rd, an annual event that recognizes the effort and dedication of conservation leaders in Africa.
Programa Tatô, through Hipólito Lima, our father of sea turtles of São Tomé and Príncipe, was one of the nominees and finalists to receive this prize and ended up being the big winner, thus receiving the Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa.
This award, not only recognizes internationally Mr. Hipólito as the ambassador of conservation efforts of Programa Tatô in São Tomé island, but also the work and dedication of all Programa Tatô team, that has contributed to a better conservation status of these animals threatened of extinction during the last years.
We wanted to mark this moment so special for Mr. Hipólito and our Association with a small event that counted with the presence of all coordination members of Programa Tatô and NGO MARAPA, where we showed the presentation video of Mr. Hipólito and the moment he was announced as the winner by Prince William.
We are proud, happy and we stand together, strong, and motivated in this our mission.
